VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE, THE WEAKEST NIGERIAN PRESIDENT...DIASPORA GET IT IN.

Joe,

YOU have to take into Consideration the Level of an average Nigerian DISCIPLINE & MINDSET!! A Deformed Leg, will Determine how it will be Walked!! Makes Sense?

Just like in your household, the unrully child will be handled with Iron hand for Re-direction and to instil in them DISCIPLINE!! This is the Case with Nigeria nation and her people!! Otoiheoma Egbe.

Ton Egbe,
Does any Nigerian leader need military experience to have the RESOLVE and political will to get things done for the common good: to fix bad roads, ensure delivery on contracts awarded, make sure water and electricity supplies are adequate and regular? Did Nigeria not have military leaders in the past; how did they plan and execute infrastructural development in the country? Did Mallam Nasir el-Rufai have military background before he successfully enforced building codes, parking, transportation and trading practices at the FET when he was Minister? It is even better in a Democracy where we can clamor and advocate freely for performance and accountability. Besides, did W Bush or Obama have military experience before ordering or authorizing military operations and declaring wars?
My Brother, Nigeria does not need a leader with military mindset or psychology to rule successfully and develop the society; vision, pragmatism, political will, focus and resolve are key traits any potentially successful Nigerian leader needs to move the nation forward. Take care. JUI

NIGERIANS,

Any other thing else than the above will continue to be Business as Usual. Past Leaders left the National Treasury as Dry as sahara desert, yet are allowed to be Parading about with Impunity all over the streets of Nigeria, and infact, want to come back to continue from where they stopped!!

Is this NOT an abomination and Looking Down on the rest of millions of Nigerians? Millions of Nigerians, who are daily scrapping to be alive; not minding the thousands of Very Educated Nigerian Professionals in waste both at home and abroad. Yes, let us pray hard for this Leader of our Dream, who will straighten Nigeria up!! Shikena, Opari, Okwu Agwu!! Otoiheoma Egbe.

Ala & D,
Not in any way trying to defend MCB because I know his capabilities in holding his own grounds if need be, however I just wanted to remind all of us that he has been consistent in expressing his opinion on the type of leadership needed to get Nigeria above water before softer leaders could come on board. The fact that he appeared being in support of GEJ then, from my understanding was out of fairness to the way Nigerians spoke loud and clear in the last ballots, therefore he decided to give GEJ the benefit of doubts. Yours truly held the same view as he did then , else like he has always expressed, what Nigeria needs now is a mindful but ruthless individual with military background to step onto the arena with clinched teeth and fists, plus iron brooms in hands to sweep off our deeply corrupt leaders off the scene. Again, names of people like Gen Buhari comes to mind as usual. Such a leader will come in and clear the way for safe landing of softer minded leaders with whatever mountains of paper qualification they may have to their names.
It appears like GEJ, did not know the magnitude of the job and he seems overwhelmed, hence all these babbling all over the place with several not-so-popular policies and unwittingly inhabiting many habitual very corrupt officers in his administration. He should do better than he is doing so far.

McBee:

I am very surprised, and encouraged at the same time, at your sudden reversal of your impressions and analysis of President Jonathan. I remember making the same observation and analysis of GEJ when he came to the UN at New York and fielded reporters' questions at a press conference in NY, and also his performance at a televised one-on-one interview in Washington. I haven't seen much of GEJ, but from those two outings I was able to draw a conclusion of visionless leadership and unfit temperament for the office of president of a country such as Nigeria. You and some others called for my dethronement for drawing such a conclusion.

I didn't think it needed much more for an intelligent objective scholar to make an analysis of someone's job effectiveness, but I was hounded by you and your cohorts. Alas, you waited six months only to draw the same conclusion.

Thanks for the vindication, anyway. I expect an apology in the mail.

Ala,
You're right! I supported, defended the man because I detested how those malams wanted to ride roughshod over him, like Nigeria and the presidency were their patrimony, alone.
Of course I liked his personal story and I'm still beguiled by it! But now that he has been president for a while I'm concerned that he might not have been fully prepared for that office in a country such as Nigeria and in the wake of the OBJ's "jibiti"! Naija is a confused state and a person with the mien, temperament, political astuteness of GEJ might be handicapped to lead it!
I guess my conclusion might be affected by my addiction to watching NTAi news. Most times when I see GEJ he does not exude any energy or sound understanding of the issues. Just recently at an economic summit in Abuja he said "people should come and invest in Nigeria. Those who do not because of the Boko Haram will regret it. Boko Haram is a temporary thing!". Now I may be wrong but this statement sounds hollow because it is not realistic. During Naija @50 inspite of huge financial investment, security was breached and bombs detonated in Abuja. Up to now no one has been prosecuted and punished. Since then there has been more bombings including UN office in Abuja. During Octiber 1, Boko Haram warned him not to venture outside Aso Rock. He complied and in an unprecedented fashion took salute on independence day inside Aso Rock. Of course this singular act did a lot to undermine confidence and his ability as a leader. So what was he talking about!
Also given his obvious shortcoming in understanding socio-economic dynamics, he has been misled into economic actions that do not impact positively on the welfare of the masses but rather seeks to widen the gulf between the haves and have-nots. The upshot of this, is the incipient class warfare that is manifesting in an upsurge of crimes, and various forms of criminality in the country.
Nwanna, trust me if prez GEJ does not change course and lead effectively, Naija could become a banana republic in his wake...that is my fear!
Really contrary to conventional wisdom, one does not have to be a dictator or an economic wizard, to lead and get things done. In a democracy, clear vision, social conscience, integrity and personal efficacy are, in part, the qualities that mark effective and successful leaders in history...

Oga Ritz, tell them abeg! This Jonathan- part of the badluck OBJ bequeathed to Nigeria, will drive the last nail into Nigeria's coffin by his shallowness, timidity and above all lack of vision and energy for bold leadership.
His effete style and inability to believably and passionately articulate a vision for the country in ways that transcends symbolism to lead, are what have encouraged all the madness- escalation of corruption, insecurity and widening gulf between the rich and poor.
Up to now Nigeria has not tried and punished anyone for the Nigeria@50 Abuja bombing despite the huge amount spent on that event, establishment of more federal universities when existing ones are shadows of their previous selves, confused economic policies that do not take the welfare of the masses into consideration- bad roads, tolls, fuel subsidy, devaluation of naira, lack of adequate investment in infrastructure and education, name it!
Nawaoo for Naija and Jonathan!

Folks,
"he said that all Jonathan knew was his books and library, a very brilliant person but who talks less"
Jonathan a very brilliant person? I  would want to know the secondary school he attended where he was dubbed " a very brilliant person". That may well explain the usage of that phrase. For after all, it is said, that in a country of the blind, a one eyed person is usually the king. Honestly speaking Mr President has not done anything to justify that appellation "very brilliant" Not a singular act of his has justified that appellation. Instead all his actions and utterances point to the opposite. An example will suffice.

How can a very brilliant person even begin to contemplate the withdrawal of fuel subsidy in the light of the existing security situation in the country. Does he not know that he will, by so doing fall into the hands of his sworn Northern enemies by unwittingly swelling and spreading the ranks of his enemies to include his southern brothers. Is it not obvious to any brilliant person that this will be a short cut to a wholesale anarchy in the country? Unless, perhaps his ultimate objective is to split this country. In which case I shall duff my hat (feather and all) for him, for his brilliance and ingenuity. Bar Marcel Duru

 Comrades,
I don't think any person with a right frame of mind will wake up and start castigating other fellow human beings. After all no one is perfect. The imperfection shows that we are Humans. Like I continue to said, Jonathan is not the right person to lead a nation with more than 130 million people. I could care less if it was the Northerner, the Easterner, the Westerner or the Southerner is the President of Nigeria, knowing quite well that we one Nigeria.
Jonathan is inexperienced, too weak and too slow. To be honest, he looks petrified any time I see him on the podium. Whether we accept it or we need a President like the duo of Buhari and Idiagbon. As a young Police Officer then, I witnessed a real transformation of Nigeria, before the animalistic revolutionaries short-lived their tenure.

I thought people apply for jobs that they can do once hired? Why this sudden settling down periods for Nigerian elected officials on jobs they campaigned for?
President Jonathan was deputy governor, vice president for three years and president for one year before he was elected the president six months ago. What is the settling down period for the president, for the governor and for others? Is this settling down period new in Nigeria? .........temporary or permanent?

RE: [Njabasouth] Jonathan is the Weakest President Nigeria ever had

Nwanna Anokute,
Besides, Jonathan is said to be naturally a quiet person right from time, according my friend Kenneth who happen to be a high school classmate of the President, every one of his peers in school is astonished and surprised that Jonathan they knew would ever stand and talk to the hearing of the public, talk less as a Nation's number one person. My friend said that in school, you will hardly hear Jonathan's voice or see him move about. He said that all Jonathan knew was his books and library, a very brilliant person but who talks less.
Therefore, you are right, people should give him a break since he is a meticulous individual who always does things with precision.

Calm down , Kayode . Please Calm down . It is always good to shout from behind the lines . Why are you guys impatient ? Why ? This man has just been elected President in less than six months and you are calling him the weakest President ? Already ? That's not fair ....

In as much as I would want our national security apparatus to be revamped , I want to give the President time to do his job . All these swipes at him from you Buhari apologists will never change anything , nor make progress . And for that , I do not think , for now , that the President is weak , because we do not know what he's doing behind closed doors to attend to our national concerns ....So calm down . Have your say ....

I once classified Yar'dua as the weakest Nigerian President. But one can excuse him, given his state of health. Even Shagari, Nigeria's Sky-scrapper hat President, whose only achievement in his entire four year-term was peace, was better in terms of National Security in Nigeria. During the 1980 Maitasine insurrection in Kano, led by Mohammed Marwa, Shagari's National Security Forces were up to the task. They quelled the insurrection in a timely manner.   However, I begin to question Jonathan's ability to lead the nation, when he could not fire his own National Security Chiefs, under whose watch, the Boko Haram terrorist network metamorphosed from a small 'religious' rebel group, to a potent and lethal Al-Qaeda franchise. To make the matter worse, he asked whether the people wants him to act like a dictator, forgetting that he is an executive President. Jonathan could not understand why Nigerians did not appreciate his "efforts" and would not praise him for doing a "wonderful job" of "securing" the nation, when the United States President and the Secretary-General of the United Nations commended his efforts. I wondered if Jonathan forgot that he is the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and not that of the United States of America or the United Nations for that matter. When has Jonathan seen or heard President Obama making such remarks, in spite of his government's wonderful achievements in foreign policy? Obama knows quite alright that he is responsible and accountable to the citizens of the United States and not anyone else. Just yesterday, the United States warned Americans living in Nigeria of possible bombings of three hotels in the state capital by the Boko Haramists. Of course, the US government's responsibility is to ensure the safety of its own citizens. The US would protect its own interests in Nigeria first, before anything else. That is what a responsible government supposed to do.  It seems that Jonathan has not grasped the repercussions of the activities of the Boko Haram and he is still living in a world of illusion that the Boko Haram menace would disappear into the thin air. But Jonathan is making the biggest mistake of his administration, by making such assumption.    Kayode
