ANNOUNCING   THE  2011  IGUE FESTIVAL  AND  THE INAUGURAL  INOTA (EDO QUIZZ)

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I am pleased to announce that our annual THANKSGIVING CEREMONY will be held on boxing day,  26th Dec, 2011 at a venue to be announced later.  Further to my earlier communications,  INOTA  AND INOTA 2, the inaugural INOTA ceremony will be the official launching of  THE  EDO LANGUAGE AND CULTURAL RENAISSANCE.  It could not have come at a more august  period especially as the IJAWS have had the audacity to lay claims to  our land; an act that they  would not  have dared to think of when  the  BENIN  EMPIRE  was flourishing . We gave them a piece of land on which to stay temporarily as these fishermen helped to transport our soldiers during the expansion of our EMPIRE  but they now want to bite the finger that fed them.  We are all fully aware of  the dire   consequences of such an action.
The   inaugural  INOTA will  focus on the following areas:
1       Names of our  kings and Obas since the OGISO DYNASTY.  The names of all  the obas that distinguished themselves should be known.
2       Names of prominent chiefs and their duties; of importance  are the UZAMA NIHIRON.
3  Family life in Edo Kingdom:   marriage, birth, death, farming, civic           duties  etc.
4        Folk stories  and songs.
5       Traditional greetings and their importance.

I would  like  to announce that we will all contribute our widow’s might towards these  activities.  To this end,  we will all bring  our food to the ceremony.  Our mothers and sisters will  prepare the food; each one should aim  to prepare food for at least 5-10 adults.  Our fathers and brothers will be expected to bring drinks to cater for 10-20 people.  To be specific  on the food,  my advice is  for each individual to prepare just one item of food. This  means that one should  prepare just rice only,  either white rice or fried rice or jollof rice.  Some should prepare just stew, or soup, or  prepare enough ebae  or elubo, or ema.  Fish should be grilled or fried;  same goes for chicken.  Usi, owo,   i dodo, fried or boiled yam, eka,  imoimoi etc should be prepared with an average of 10 adults in mind.  Our fathersa and brothers who love cooking  should be able to rub shoulders with our mothers and sisters.  I believe we will all have fun during this ceremony.  I am aware that our men can  be great cooks!
I will appreciate your suggestions towards improving  any aspect of the ceremony.   Those who feel they will be able to act as judges are welcome to call me   on 07956 224 299.
May  I seize this opportunity to extend  a special invitation to  the following organisations: 1 Benin Union, London( Mr Scot Omo Idahosa) 2. Edo State Association, London( Mr Sonny I gbinedion) 3.Benin Voice,UK (Mr  M. Ibude ) 4.Edo State Community, Manchester( Mr Edward Ogbee )5. Afenmai Union, UK ( Alhaji Idua ) 6. Etsako  Community, UK ( Dr Philip Idaewo ) 7.  Edo Union, Glasgow ( Mr Osarenren Ogbomo ) 8 Edo Union, Leeds. Congratulations to the founders of the new  Edo Union  ,Leeds.  My sincere hope is that  there will be strong representations from all the unions.  THE LAUNCHING OF THE EDO LANGUAGE  AND CULTURAL RENAISSANCE  will be a  major milestone for all  EDOS  ALL OVER THE GLOBE.  Please  be there to be part  of  history.
May God bless you all and replenish your pockets.

Yours sincerely,
DR P E IDAHOSA
